CUBANO SANDWICH

Let's kick this blog off with a Cuban tradition and a favorite here in the Fernandez home!

1 Large loaf of Italian or French Bread
1/2 lb. of Deli Ham
1/2 lb. Pork Roast-thinly sliced
1/2 lb. Swiss Cheese
Dill Pickles of your choice (the long thinly sliced pickles work great!)
Miracle whip
Sauteed Onions (optional)

Cut bread loaf lengthwise down the middle and slather on a layer of miracle whip to each inside.

Lay down a layer of swiss cheese. (If cheese is hanging off the sides, make sure to tuck it under into the sandwich because in the end you'll be wrapping this in foil and don't want the cheese to stick to the sides)

Lay down a layer of deli ham (same thing as cheese, tuck sides in if hanging off bread)

Lay down a layer of thinly sliced pork roast

Lay down your pickles

Lay down your sauteed onions (these are optional and you can saute these in small amount of butter until soft)

Preheat the oven to 350 F

Cut the sandwich in half so it will fit on cookie sheet

Entirely wrap individual halves in foil and place on cookie sheet, then place another cookie sheet on top of subs. You need to add something heavy that can go in the oven to smash down the sandwich.

It looks funny but it's what's needed =)

Bake at 350 F for 20 mnts.
